~ABOUT
The Michigan Conducting Institute is a focused, intensive, six-day workshop. It is comprised of seminars and sessions of piano and orchestra rehearsals in downtown Holland with Holland Symphony Orchestra. This workshop allows its participants to be guided under seasoned conductors, learn through career development and technique seminars, and experience the power of conducting in front of a live, professional orchestra.

~APPLICATION PROCESS

•Active participants: Limited to a total of 10 conductors who will receive two 25 minute sessions with the orchestra plus two conductor training sessions with piano. Tuition is $950.

•Auditors will be able to participate actively in the seminars but will not conduct the orchestra. Limited to 15 participants. Tuition is $490.

•Limited number of scholarships are available for Active participants. The deadline for scholarship consideration is February 15, 2012. Scholarship amounts are determined by consideration of the timeliness of the application submission, past experience, and need-based. You may submit a short conducting video in DVD or online format. You may also express in a statement why you acquire financial assistance.

•Applications will be accepted and openings filled as received. Deadline is April 1, 2012 or until filled. All accepted applications will be required to place a 25% non-refundable deposit within two weeks of receiving acceptance to hold your place.

•Housing and meals are not included.

•Room available at Hope College for the following rates:
$140.00 per suite per night
Suite has two twin beds on each side of a common living space.
Double occupancy is $35.00 a night Total $210.00 for 6 nights
Single occupancy is $70.00 a night Total $420.00 for 6 nights
Administration fee $5.25 per person
